This isn’t a very good photo, but I had to put it up anyway: homemade pasta from scratch (my first go!!!)

I got some great assistance from this man here. His recipes are so simple and easy to follow even a daft girl like me can get to the finish line!

Ocean’s Eleven | Ocean Room | Circular Quay, Sydney

1. Soy marinated tuna - truffle oil
2. Tuna - shanghai sauce
3. Kingfish - mustard vinaigrette
4. Ocean trout - rice wine vinegar jelly
5. Seared ocean trout - extra virgin oil + lime
6. Rock oyster - sea water jelly
7. Scallop - sour plum vinaigrette
8. Bar cod - black salt + lime oil
9. Crystal prawn - sake jelly
10. Cuttlefish - finger lime + crystal salt
11. Trevally - ponzu sauce

Unfortunately I didn’t have my camera with me so I couldn’t take a photo of these sashimi “shooters” (they all came in a shot glass in a huge bowl of crushed ice). All of them were absolutely divine, particularly the tuna in truffle oil and the trevally with ponzu sauce. The only sour note was the (no pun intended) sour plum vinaigrette that unfortunately overpowered the deliciously fresh and soft scallop.

The overall price to the hip pocket means I probably won’t be frequenting this establishment anytime soon. However, the next time I do I won’t hesitate to sample these shooters again, they were very fresh and very tasty. Perfect combination.
