I have a few impending uni assignments coming up, so instead of getting those done, here comes a ramble about what music’s been playing in my ears lately.
Vampire Weekend – these guys are great! I don’t know how to describe them and don’t know much about them but they are really great and just what I’m looking to add into my iPod’s summer playlist. They’ve been named Hot New Kids by Rolling Stone and are being hyped up all over the place. I kept hearing their name and so decided to check out their tracks on MySpace – Cape Cod Kwassa Kwassa is awesome! I have a feeling I’ll be grabbing a copy of their album and spinning their tunes over the summer. Catchy, feel-good and definitely what I’m in the mood for.
Not so cheery is Soko, whose track I’ll Kill Her has also been getting a few spins. It’s bitter, raw and catchy. And she gets five extra points for being French.
The Bumblebeez: Aussie band that is good. Very good. Signed to Modular and described as a rap/rockabilly/jam band on their MySpace, these fellas get my booty shaking all over the place. I’ve been listening to their new record (thanks Ruella!) and it’s pretty ace.
And Fun Punch by Bagraiders kills me everytime.
OK I should get back to my lovely assignments now.
