Angourie

After a week of incessant rain, the sun decided to grace us with its presence for the weekend. We headed out to Angourie, a beach area about 5 minutes from Yamba that is particularly well-known to surfing enthusiasts. It’s also famous for its Blue Pools (freshwater swimming holes that are actually old quarries).

Nearby the Blue Pools is Spooky Beach, a small and very beautiful beach with amazingly blue water and well behaved waves.

After frequenting the more popular beaches in Sydney this summer that are often polluted with cigarette butts and plastic wrappers galore (simply due to the sheer number of people passing through in a day who cannot for the life of them think of using a rubbish bin), it was fantastic to be swimming in such clean and crystal clear waters.

Maclean

This is where I am for the next few weeks for a bit of work experience in the country.

If you haven’t heard of the town, here’s a quick rundown:

  • Population 3000
  • “Australia’s first Scottish town”
  • About two hours past Coffs Harbour

It’s quite a pretty little town but I’m far far away from Sydney and already missing everyone!
